Nobody can tell you the number

Not because it is unknown, but because it lives in four systems and somebody has to spend a morning assembling it.

What this looks like day to day

A monthly report takes days to produce. Two departments quote different figures for the same thing and both can justify theirs. Decisions wait on numbers, or get made without them. The reporting everyone relies on is a spreadsheet somebody rebuilds each period.

Everything needed for a single live view already exists inside your systems. It simply needs to arrive in one place and keep itself current, which makes this quick work with a large effect on how fast decisions get made.

Wherever you’re starting from

Nothing in place yet

Reporting is assembled by hand each period and there is no dashboard at all. The first version is usually a small one, covering the handful of numbers decisions actually wait on, and it removes days of assembly immediately.

Something, but it isn’t good enough

You have dashboards and nobody trusts them. Numbers that disagree with the finance system, a definition two departments read differently, a feed that broke months ago and quietly kept showing the last figure. A dashboard nobody believes is worse than none, because it still gets quoted in meetings.

Working well, could go further

The numbers are current, agreed and used. What follows is depth rather than breadth: the data you have not connected yet, alerting so the system tells you rather than waiting to be asked, or forecasting off history that is finally clean enough to model.

Where this usually ends up

Nothing here is decided in advance. These are the directions this problem usually goes. Which one fits you comes out of looking at how your business actually works.

One place the numbers live

Data pulled automatically from the systems that hold it, whether that is sales, finance, operations or anything else, and kept current without anyone exporting a thing.

Agreed definitions

What counts as a sale, an active customer, a closed job. Most reporting disputes are definition disputes, and they get settled once, in the build.

A view per person

Your daily view is a different thing from what an operations lead needs hourly or an accountant needs monthly. Each gets their own screen off the same underlying figures.

Reports that arrive by themselves

Sent on your schedule, to the people who need them, in the format they already use, including a spreadsheet where that is genuinely the right answer.

How we work out which of those it is

We look at how the work happens now: the actual sequence rather than the process document. What gets done, by whom, how often, and where it waits. That is a conversation and then some time with the people doing it, and it is where the answer comes from. The call and the audit are done by Bruno himself, so nothing you explain has to be explained again to whoever ends up building it.

What comes back is the shortlist worth building and what each piece returns, ranked so the strongest goes first. You see that in writing, with the price attached, before anything starts.

What changes

The number is available when the question is asked, and everybody is looking at the same one. The days that went into assembling reports go back into the business, and decisions start being made on current information rather than on last month’s.

FAQ

Our data is a mess. Is this even possible?

Yes, and the mess usually surfaces as part of the work. Bringing sources together is what exposes the duplicates and gaps; that is uncomfortable for a week and valuable permanently.

Do we need a BI platform for this?

Sometimes. If you already have one, we feed it properly rather than adding another. Where the requirement is a handful of numbers a few people need, a licensed platform is often more than the job requires.

How current is it?

As current as the underlying systems allow, and set per source. Some things are worth having live; most are perfectly useful hourly or daily, and pretending otherwise adds cost for no decision benefit.

Who maintains it?

We do, and that is the point of keeping us on it. Source systems change, connections need updating, and the reason yours stays true a year from now is that somebody is responsible for it.

Which number takes too long to get?

Tell us what you check and where it currently comes from. 30 minutes is usually enough to scope one view that keeps itself up to date.
