Our client is a prestigious insurance company with several agencies re-selling the insurances. Their goal was to be able to sell insurances online without need for paperwork, letters or phone calls. Clients and agencies should be able to purchase their insurance immediately online, in a few minutes. In addition the resulting sales must be converted to XML and sent by FTP automatically every day from the web server to the server of the client.
Our solution is a corporate website, divided by user targets and types of insurances. The general public is able to calculate their insurances through a step-by-step insurance procedure where the first step calculates the price and the following steps collect information from the client in order to complete the procedure.
In the other hand, agencies have a special price and go to the website via a special link, authenticated with SSL Client Certificates. This allows the website to automatically calculate the agency commission for each sale and include it in the XML data file.
The calculation module is as well implemented within the contact center application for quick access by the tele-marketing staff. While clients are on the phone, marketing can quickly calculate all the insurance prices, view the conditions and perform sales. The client then receives a signed confirmation letter with his policy details, to be signed and sent back either by fax or post.
In the end, total sales online make over £ 300.000 per month. Statistics say that only 20% of all users who start the insurance calculation procedure on the website are proceeding into the next step. A full step-conversion shows how efficient each step is. By experimenting with improvements these numbers can go up to the point of duplicating the sales efficiency, from 20% to 40%.
